It’s a Small World!

My Friends, and long time customers, Sammy and Tami, took me to the Mooneyes event in July!  I had the pleasure of meeting some of their very talented friends.  As we were leaving someone asked me the name of my shop and I proudly said…. "Lula Mae".  Mark, the proprietor of Gasoline Gallery,  recognized the name!  He and his Wife, Taylor were once Vendors at Lula Mae 7 years ago.  They were the creators of some amazing "handcrafted goodies".  What a small world it is!  Since then Mark opened Gasoline Store and Gallery, located in El Segundo.  This past weekend Sammy, Tami, and I attended their show "Enamel" and I was blown away!  I love finding other entrepreneurs who truly love what they do!

The show was great!  So many talented artists, and Mark was of course a perfect host!  Gasoline Gallery prides themselves  in being your "Kustom Kulture, Lowbrow, Hot Rod, and Urban Surf Art Connection".  You absolutely Must check out their next show in October!  Thank You to Gary for supplying photos of the artists and their works to tease you with from this event!  I have also included links to a few of the artists sites below!  The show is still going on if you have the opportunity to stop in you will not regret it!

Lula Mae Kit – Spring Paper Posies!

nothing
says springtime like a bundle of colorful blooms, and these cheery little
flowers will brighten anyone's day!

Pocket full of posies 3

step 1: download templates

Click here to print the pocket full of posies templates. Download Pocket full PDF

step 2: cut and trace and cut some more!

carefully
cut out flower templates and lightly trace shapes onto heavy 2-sided scrapbook
paper or cardstock with a pencil, making several of each shape.  (don’t worry about the dotted lines on
the templates at this point…that comes up next!)

once you’ve
traced as many posies as your little heart desires, cut them out from your
lovely paper.  remember…no running
with scissors!

step 3: get your blooms a-bloomin.

now you’ve
got yourself a nice little stack of petals and leaves that are just waiting to
come to life!
here’s where it gets really fun…

start to
plan which flower shapes you want to go together, and set them aside.  mix and match shapes and colors until
you’re absolutely tickled pink!

step 4: when
embellishing is a good thing!

once you've
combined and layered shapes as desired, adhere them at the center of the
posie
with glue,
brads, or for a 3D effect–use 3D dots, available in the scrapbooking section
of most craft stores.

note: you’ll
want to adhere each layer only at the center and not to the end of each
petal
because
there’s still some folding and/or cutting left to do!

decorate
those lovely blooms by gluing on (or 3D dotting!) buttons, sequins,
rhinestones, or glitter for added sparkle!

step 5: flower folding and finishing

remember
those dotted lines on the templates?
they indicate where you can either
fold the flower petals or cut them (just short of the center,
or else they’ll fall apart!), or both
!

once your
flowers have completely dried (why is waiting always the most difficult
part!?
) and
depending on what you’d like your finished posies to look like, fold and/or cut
flowers where indicated on the templates to make them pop…like so:

Pocket full of posies 4

heck, you can
even fold them in places where NOT indicated…see what happens!

don’t have
time to grow your own flowers?  why
not stop in at Lula Mae and pick some that have already bloomed?  or better yet…show off that semi-green
thumb and pick up a LulaMaeKit Yourself Pocket Full of Posies Kit
…which is chock full of pre-cut
posies of all shapes, sizes and colors…ready to take home and be LulaMae’d by
you!

make wishes come true this thanksgiving……

i just received an email from julia, the owner of one of our favorite lines…flying wish paper.  It is a testimonial from a customer…..what a beautiful idea ….. please read below….

Prayer3

"I had the most heartwarming experience with my family at Thanksgiving
last year. We always have a dozen or so people at our table, and I
brought out Flying Wish Paper™ with our coffee and dessert. We each
wrote down something that we were thankful for, and then we lit our
blessings and watched as they all rose up together. It was so
beautiful. There wasn’t a dry eye at the table.   It's a new family tradition and it beats the heck out of pulling on a wishbone."
